Blackbutt takes its name from the tall blackbutt forest in Blackbutt Reserve, one of the few patches of original bushland left in the middle of Shellharbour. On one side of the suburb you have walking tracks and tall gums, and on the other the shops and services of Shellharbour City Centre.
